MERBAU IS AS GORGEOUS AS IT IS STRONG
Merbau is the standout class of decking material. Its wood is the kind that leaves your decking area not only sturdy and longer-lasting but attention-grabbing. Instead of being beige or washed-out like other kinds of decking, Merbau’s colour is rich, intense, and dynamic.
Its warm colour is remembered as the heated tone-setter of countless parties and events by anyone who has dined or celebrated upon Merbau decking.
Every section of a Merbau deck is visually appealing in its own right, with the whole deck being a kind of rainbow of the colour spectrum of golden to sunset brown.
Somewhere in Merbau’s colour and pattern is a reminder of the intense heat of sandstones. Perhaps Merbau’s evocation of sandstone is appropriate. It is incredibly solid timber.
But Merbau is not dry; it is naturally oily, which gives it an evolving texture; a slow-forming bleed of essential oils and acids.
Self-treated by its substances, Merbau is resistant to rot and corrosion for up to 50 years and is left unaffected by heavy rain or snow. Moreover, unlike Pine, drying in the sun will not crack or wrap Merbau. Drying in the sun will not crack or warp Merbau like what could happen with pine. If you buy Merbau for your outdoor home decking, you will have one of the safest and most long-lasting timber instalments possible connecting to your home.
MERBAU IS TERMITE-RESISTANT
Termites fail to make a meal of Merbau. Termites can be very costly to get rid of, requiring a deep inspection of your home’s timbers by an expensive pest exterminator. The damages termites cause can be devastating to your decking, and to your wallet.
Thanks to its hardiness and natural oils, termites fail to make a meal of Merbau. If you buy Merbau decking, you will no longer need to worry about termites’ infestation, saving you both stress and money. MERBAU IS SPECIAL.
Merbau comes from Kwilia trees, which in turn come from tropical climates such as Queensland, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, India, and Madagascar.
Their growth can take 75 years and their younger years are spent facing the risk of infection and damage. This is why Merbau timber is incredibly damage-resistant, it has toughened itself up for over 70 years in a tropical environment where biodiversity is at its highest.
Given that Merbau is indeed precious, we make sure our Merbau is sourced legally and in accordance with the chain of custody requirements which ensure that Merbau is logged sustainably and ethically.
MERBAU IS BUSHFIRE-RESISTANT
In Australia where the threat of bushfires is very real, a house made of easily flammable wood will put you in a grave danger. Merbau’s resistance to fire is a true testament to its quality and strength. So, be it outdoor decking or large timber instalment linked directly to your property, Merbau is definitely worth investing into.
